The Wizarding World of Harry Potter has continued with Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, the second movie in the planned five-movie series.

Series producer David Heyman has teased that each of the upcoming sequels will have its own distinct flavour.
'This next film is different to the first, but each film will march to its own beat and have its own tone,' he told Digital Spy. 'I don't yet know if the series will get darker, although all of them will be fun and entertaining.'
So what do we know about the future after we've all discovered The Crimes of Grindelwald? We're glad you asked.
Jan 21, 2019 - Everything you need to know about the remaining three movies of the Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts, including cast, release date, plot.
Fantastic Beasts 3, 4 and 5 release dates: 2024 countdown

Fantastic Beasts 3 looked set for release on November 20, 2020, continuing the pattern of the first film (November 2016) and its sequel (November 2018), but nothing had been confirmed.
However, it was then reported that production had been pushed back by Warner Bros from July 2019 to late autumn, while Warner Bros will now release Dune in that slot.
Star Dan Fogler said the change is because they needed 'more time to prep' and since it was never officially scheduled for November 2020, it's not like the third movie has been delayed anyway.
And it's now been confirmed that Warner Bros will release the third movie on November 12, 2021, with filming due to start in spring 2020.
Warner Bros boss Kevin Tsujihara insists that they know how to make the movie better than the underwhelming Crimes of Grindelwald.
The fourth and fifth movies are yet to receive release dates, but don't expect them in 2022 and 2024.

Sadly, not everyone survived The Crimes of Grindelwald, so raise a glass for Leta Lestrange (Zoe Kravitz) who was tragically killed by Grindelwald after helping Newt and the others escape.
This doesn't completely rule out us seeing Leta again in the series, but it would (probably) have to take the form of a flashback.
There's still plenty of cast who are likely to come back for the third movie though, including Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, Katherine Waterston as Tina Goldstein, Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski, Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein, Ezra Miller as Credence Barebone (or is it Aurelius Dumbledore?), Callum Turner as Theseus Scamander and, of course, Jude Law as young Albus Dumbledore.
Johnny Depp has already confirmed his return as Gellert Grindelwald whether you want him back or not.
Behind the camera, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them director David Yates (who also helmed the last four Harry Potter movies) has signed on to direct all four of the upcoming films.

So there are two major plot points that have had Harry Potter fans debating fiercely since the release of Crimes of Grindelwald.
First up, it was revealed that Credence is actually Aurelius Dumbledore, a previously-unknown brother of Albus, but since it was Grindelwald who told him, it's not clear whether he was definitely telling the truth.

And the other major point centred around the tragic death of Leta Lestrange at the hands of Grindelwald, meaning it's unlikely we'll see Kravitz again in the rest of the series, unless she appears in flashbacks.
The end of the sequel also saw Queenie surprisingly side with Grindelwald, while Nagini – who we know from the Harry Potter books becomes Voldemort's pet – ended up with Newt, Dumbledore and co back at Hogwarts.

We might have to wait a while to find out exactly what the third movie will be about, but JK Rowling has potentially let slip that it'll be set in Rio de Janeiro in the 1930s after she corrected a spelling mistake on Twitter.
'Let's just say I really ought to be able to spell Rio de Janeiro properly, given how many times I've written/typed it in the last few months,' she noted.

As of December 10, 2018, Rowling has finished the script for the third movie, so it's either a hint to Brazil-based scenes in Fantastic Beasts 3 or a clever misdirection by Rowling.
For everything else you need to know about the third movie, head this way.
Fantastic Beasts 3, 4 and 5 plot: Another era, another battle
As noted, JK Rowling has said that the films will cover 19 years of Wizarding World history. That will take the last one up to 1945, the year that Dumbledore defeated Grindelwald and claimed the Elder Wand from him.
That was also the year that a certain Tom Riddle (the future Voldemort) graduated from Hogwarts.
All that considered, it seems unlikely that the fifth film won't feature the climactic battle between Dumbledore and his former friend. Credence could also turn out to play an important role in their struggle, especially if the theory that Dumbledore's sister Ariana was another Obscurial turns out to be true.

That 19-year period also covers the birth of Voldemort and the actions surrounding the creation of his first Horcruxes.
Theseus was known to be corresponding with Percival Graves, the director of magical security for the US magical government MACUSA, which put Newt's brother (whether knowingly or not) in contact with Grindelwald, who had assumed Graves's identity. That considered, his outlook might be quite different to Newt's. Could that put them on opposite sides of Grindelwald's coming war?
